The reporting of an adverse event to TGA post vaccination does not mean the event was caused by the vaccination, it said in a statement.
All reports to the TGA of death following vaccination are reviewed to assess the likelihood that the vaccine contributed to the event or medical condition that lead to a fatal outcome.
The TGA has so far confirmed six cases of the blood clotting condition after vaccination, including one linked to the death of 48-year-old Genene Norris from the NSW Central Coast.
But the drug regulator says the overall number of reports received for blood clots following vaccination has been no higher than the expected background rate for the more common type of blood clots in Australia.
