New trade rules with the UK mean that lorries without newly required documents are being turned away from entering Ireland, Dublin Port said.
Tom Talbot, Revenues head of customs operations in Dublin Port, said at a press briefing yesterday: Where trucks arrive at the ports, whether thats at Holyhead or at Dublin, if the correct paperwork has not been done in advance those trucks will be turned around and turned back.
The UKs transition period ended at 11pm on New Years Eve, and the nation became a so-called third country for trade purposes and customs declarations. New documentation is now required between member states and Britain, which is expected to cause some delays with trading.
Dublin Port completed several changes to prepare for Brexit.
