PUTRAJAYA: More than half of Selangors Covid-19 infection clusters are from the economic sector, particularly from factories, says state Health director Datuk Dr Shaari Ngadiman.
He also gave Selangorians a pat on the back for adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and active self-screening for the coronavirus.
In a presentation at a press conference on Friday (Aug 6), Dr Shaari noted that 54% of active clusters in the state from July 1 to 31 were from the manufacturing sector, followed by the services sector (12%), construction sites (10%) and businesses (7%).
Dr Shaari also said 5% of the states infection clusters in July were community-related outbreaks, but none linked to the recent Hari Raya Aidiladha festivities.
We tried to see if our rising trend in infections is due to Hari Raya Aidiladha but so far no cluster in Selangor has been linked to the festive period.
This shows that the people of Selangor are obedient when it comes to complying with SOPs under the National Recovery Plan, said Dr Shaari.
Among the factors contributing to the high case numbers in Selangor is active self-screening by the public, he added.
There is a high level of awareness among the Selangor public to quickly go for Covid-19 tests. More than 85% of these screenings are conducted at private health facilities.
We would like to thank these private facilities for helping out in testing the community, he said.
