Friday might be the quietest day for New Zealand so far at the Tokyo Olympics, but the action will begin early and run late into the night.
Veteran race walker Quentin Rew had a 5.30am local time start in the 50km event, which translated to an 8.30am start back here. As he battled the heat in Tokyo, he ended up placing 16, missing out on a medal.

New Zealands Ellesse Andrews is fighting for survival in the womens sprint after dropping into the repechage round.
Lydia Ko is right in the thick of the medal race as a typhoon threat hangs over the final round of the womens golf tournament.
Tied for third, 10-under par through three rounds at the Kasumigaseki Country Club, the world No 11 will now have to wait and see if the forecast storm cuts the tournament short.

New Zealands Lydia Ko moved into the bronze medal position after the third round of the women’s golf tournament.
Elsewhere, the K4 500 kayaking crew advanced to Saturdays semifinals after finishing second in their heat. A fourth medal for Lisa Carrington at the Tokyo Olympics thus remains a real possibility.
Later, it will be back to the Izu Velorodme, where keirin silver medallist Ellesse Andrews will line up in the womens sprint from 6.30pm, alongside Kirstie James, while Rushlee Buchanan and Jessie Hodges will contest the womens madison at 8.15pm.
Our showjumping trio will then be hoping they fare better as a team than they did as individuals when they have qualifying from 10pm.
