Bobby Brown is speaking out following news his son died of an overdose of alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl.
The 28-year-old son of the famed singer and rapper was found dead in his Los Angeles home in November.
His death came five years after that of his half-sister, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and eight years after his step-mother, Whitney Houston. Their autopsies showed both had drugs in their systems.
Now, Bobby Brown and Kim Ward are speaking out after losing their son, demanding those who supplied him with the dangerous opioid be brought to justice.
“My family continues to mourn my son’s death. Street fentanyl has taken the life of so many people unnecessarily, and Bobby Jr. is another victim,” Bobby Brown said in a statement to E! News.
He described the opioid crisis as “out of control”. “Those supplying this lethal drug should be held responsible for the death and destruction that it causes,” he said.
Christopher Brown, an attorney for Bobby Brown and Kim Ward, said they believe the aspiring musician took fentanyl “without his knowledge” with Kim telling the publication Bobby Jr “was not into drugs”.
“Bobby was often easily influenced. This is a situation where he associated himself with the wrong people. My son is gone, and those who contributed to his senseless death should be held accountable,” she said.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has since said bobby Jr’s case is under review.
