PETALING JAYA: A group of youths will be selected to channel the voices of their peers from the grassroots to the Prime Minister, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In his National Youth Day address, Muhyiddin said the youths will be part of an advisory group whose opinions and views will help in shaping the government policy.
This suggestion came from the Malaysian Youth Council, which I believe is a good initiative to ensure the grassroots voices will be heard, he said in his speech, which was broadcast on RTM, TV3, Bernama TV, Astro Awani and on the Youth and Sports Ministry’s Facebook page on Saturday (May 15).
He said the selection process is being finalised, and the members of the youth advisory group will be announced soon.
Muhyiddin hopes that through this platform, more youths will be involved in shaping the countrys development strategies.
Muhyiddin added that the Perikatan Nasional government remains committed towards empowering youths through innovative and sustainable human resource development.
He said various initiatives are being implemented through the Pemerkasa.
These efforts are to ensure that all government policies and initiatives remain relevant and take into account the aspiration and needs of the youth, he said.
