Malacañang said Monday the government will spend P2.7 billion for the grant of cash aid to low income families in Laguna province which is under enhanced community quarantine from August 6 to 15.
“This is according to the DBM (Department of Budget and Management), sourced from government agencies’ savings and dividends (of government owned and controlled corporations),” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“This is based on the computation of the cash aid which was granted in April 2021 when Laguna was also placed under ECQ,” he added.
Roque said low income families of Bataan province, which is under ECQ during the same period, will also receive a cash grant.
“The final amount is still being computed but the President’s instructions were clear: there is no ECQ without cash aid,” Roque said.
The government earlier released at least P10 billion as cash aid for low income families in Metro Manila since the region will be under ECQ from August 6 to 20.
